Portrait: Sophia

Good morning everyone!  I'm so excited to share some photos of the adorable Sophia this morning! Jen + Jason (of former wedding fame!) welcomed this little girl into their family a few weeks ago and I couldn't wait to take her picture!  She was so great for us - a little awake time, spent some time outside, and even slept a bit towards the end - just a perfect little lady :).  So good to see you guys again - hope you love these (and put them in the baby book!!!)!

I've had the honor of shooting a lot of babies lately, and I'm loving it!!  Must be something in the water around here right now, because they were all born around the same time :).  I loved spending time with this family - check out a few of my favorites (and by the way, if the photo of the dog and the baby doesn't make you want one of each, then you have a serious problem :).

Happy Monday all!

Sisters + Cousins

I shot these adorable kids right before the holidays and I haven't had a chance to post them - how cute are they?  It took a lot of wrangling (including me, mom, aunt, and grandma!) to keep a newborn happy, and to get two toddlers to sit next to each other (almost happily :), but imagine looking back at these when they are older...so awesome.  I love family photos.  Have a great day everyone!

Monday Updates!

Yes, Monday!  I've been waiting all week for Monday to roll around again. Haven't you?...

I'm sort of kidding - I actually love Mondays right now, I get so much done and love being set up for the week.  The fact that it is an absolutely beautiful today is helping, and I have a beach engagement session scheduled with an awesome couple, which is always super fun (plus the fact that we don't have to reschedule because of rain is doubly great!).  And so, how was everyone's weekend?

We had a wedding at Locust Grove on Saturday amidst the tornado warnings - you know, just another saturday, no biggie.  We were so happy because everything turned out perfectly, even though we had to hustle to make it all happen (I'm blaming the tornado for why we look insanely sweaty in the photobooth photos below...).  So happy we were able to make everything work, including - outdoor photos! and church exit! and outdoor cocktail hour!  Not bad considering - here is a sneak peek photo from before the rain.  The 2nd photo is Melissa and Adam running for cover :)

The awesome staff of Lola's Cafe was a huge help in getting it all orchestrated, love them.  And the food, just amazing.  Check this out - are you hungry yet? A98A2378_small

They also had a photobooh - look at these photos, we have issues, I know.  I can admit it.  Cute photo holder though, right?  Go Melissa! (yes, I know I snuck in one of the fun ring shots too - but look at the photo holder, its underneath)

In other news, my little Soph started preschool last week.  The house is so quiet when she is not home!  Here she is in front of the school on the first day.  I hope she loves it!

Ok, this is important.  I NEED answers (ladies, please comment on here or FB, I need to know) - where do you all get your jeans??!  Have you seen this analysis?  I have jeans from the Gap, do I look like this??  After reading this, I want to throw out all my jeans and go get some cute ones.  Who's with me?  I need to know if you all knew this already and I'm just in the dark.  I'm ready to go shopping.

I have a lot of stuff coming in the next few weeks!  Our bathroom portrait wall is almost done so I'm going to give the details there, and show you guys some albums that have come in recently, and of course, some more family stuff :).  Fall is our last super-busy time of year before things wind down a little for the winter (winter = babies, families, albums and fun stuff) - I'm so excited for the weddings we have this fall, you guys are going to love them!

I hope everyone has a gorgeous day today!  Back with a lot of sessions this week and more information on the mini-sessions for October!

Monday Updates!

Hey everyone!  I missed you guys last week.  As I mentioned in my post the other day, we had a family emergency that is/was very serious, it was a flurry of activity around here and therefore, I was away from my office.  Thank you all for your messages and emails - we appreciate your good thoughts very much.

I'm back this week and excited to give some updates.  Did you know today was Left-Hander's Day?  I'm left-handed and love it.  I'd like to believe that it makes me more interesting :).  Anyone that is left-handed can sympathize with the ink stains on your hand, and while apparantly, we are supposed to be more creative, we are also more likely to be schizophrenic?  Hmm.  Maybe I should be happy that Sophie is looking like a right-hander.

Have you guys been on any exciting vacations? I get to see some of your pics on facebook, but would love to hear about any good spots! - especially driveable ones, we try to go on weekend trips during the few weekends we are not working and love new destinations (our favs have always been Cape Cod, other spots in MA and Maine).  Here is an article that has some other fun destinations ideas in it (we have been to Greenport and Saratoga Springs recently, both are a lot of fun). I have so many photos from this summer and they are just sitting on my computer - usually I print our photos during our 'off-season' (aka winter), but there are so many cute ones and Soph is growing so fast, that I thought I would post a few today - you can check them out below if you are interested.

I have two weddings that have not hit facebook or the blog yet, so I thought I would post a tiny sneak peek here :).  We are so lucky to have the best clients - no one stressed about the potentially rainy weather this past weekend, and both weddings went off perfectly!  Lots of photos to come, but for now...

Meet Amanda and Justin. IMG_0916

And, Meghan and Brian! IMG_5429

Love this photo Tim shot of me at Meghan and Brian's wedding.  I think it should be titled - 'a photographer, a deer, and a baby'. IMG_9243

Links and ideas that I've been checking out on the web these last two weeks...
  • So, the Olympics are over (thank goodness!!), but shark week is here.  We love all things ocean (fun fact - Tim and I both have degrees in Marine Biology :) in this house - think maybe I should get Tim this Chumbuddy for a holiday gift?
  • There are a ton of Olympic favorite moment count-downs on the web today, but our favorite happened here - while Tim was watching the TKD rounds, Sophie said, 'oh look dad, they're hugging!'.  They were actually clinching at the beginning of the fight.  Ha.  I have to say though - this man is beyond inspiring and probably my favorite story from the games.
  • Has anyone made this chocolate-chip cookie recipe?  Not sure if it can surpass my favorite recipe (find it via my old blog here), but maybe I'll give it a try.
  • Anyone in the UK want to get this for me?  I want to buy it for Sophie's room and its not very expensive, but the shipping to the US is over $40!!!
  • Awesome article re: parenting, but can apply to many other relationships too.
  • I have been feeling a little fallish lately, and starting to get antsy for all things apples-crockpots-sweaterswithnocoat - I have been pinning lots of easy and fresh crockpot ideas on pinterest - do you guys have any good ones for me?  Looking primarily for soups, stews, or other non-fat-laden type foods :).
Oh, and by the way - I know you guys must be missing Tim's posts, but hopefully he'll be back this week!  I'll let him tell you the details, but today was his first day of school :).  Crazy right?  I have some photographic evidence that I might post next week.

I'm going to head out to work on a wedding post (coming tonight!), but here are the summer photos that are topping my list right now. IMG_9413 IMG_9528

Monday Updates!!

Good morning guys!  I'm up and at em early today and back with a new and juicy installment of Monday Updates!  First up, I have to post a sneak peek photo from Liz + Fred's wedding this past weekend....(I already posted some teasers from Sammie + Brian's wedding - you can see those here!).

You can't get better light than this...

And, here we all are! (can someone please tell me why my eyes can't stay open the same amount when I'm smiling??!!) IMG_1203

Some randomness from my week.  And, yes, that bottom lefthand photo is when Sophie decided to put yogurt all over herself :)

Thought I would show you guys a guestbook in action (these are from Casey + Connor's wedding last weekend) - these guestbooks are one of my most favorite things.  They come out so gorgeous and people just love to check them out at weddings.  Engagement sessions make the wedding day flow so much better too - you don't realize how useful it is to 'get used' to have your photo taken! IMG_4097

I also used the guestbook for a ring photo :) IMG_5733

Here is a fun photo of me, Casey and Samantha from Samantha + Brian's wedding this past weekend! Thanks Tim :). IMG_8850

Thought you guys might like this.  I found this freebie on the web a few weeks ago - cool, right?!  And free.  They have all the states and are perfect for a wedding or art wall or whatever. You could jazz them up with some names or a date, or a [here is the state we met] + [here is the state we got married in] type thing for a wedding.  Download whatever ones you like right here.

Oh yeah - I almost forgot!  Westchester Weddings Magazine selected Samara + Brian's wedding as their June Wedding of the Month!!  How cool is that!  Drop by and leave them some love if you have a moment :) Untitled

After a crazy week, we took yesterday off and hit the beach with Soph. She had a great time and so did we - here are a few pics. Gotta love the expressions on this kid. IMG_3365

Have a great week everyone!!

Monday Updates! (Holiday Super-size Edition!!)

Hey everyone!!!  How are you guys? Sorry I missed Monday updates yesterday - but...it was a holiday and I was shooting a wedding :). But, I'm back today with a super-sized edition and I think its pretty awesome.

First up - busy, busy, busy wedding time of year!!! Here are a few sneak peeks :) (awesome locations right!?) IMG_9604

IMG_7291

IMG_3928

The third photo up there is Casey + Connor's wedding (they are so cute, I love the laughing!) - we shot that yesterday at West Point and Tim proudly wore the red, white and blue on his tie :). It was a great day to be shooting at West Point - can't wait to show you guys their photos! (by the way, I know the black and white photo doesn't help you see the tie...but I liked it that way and I provided the tie close-up as well!) tim

In other unrelated news, Sophie and I checked out the farmer's market in Westport last week - it was awesome(!) - tons of organic, reasonably-priced vegetables, lots of fun to-go food, and free toddler yoga. Hilarious - here is Soph learning some moves (she is on the bottom). So funny and cute. Also, if you have a minute, check out this recent article regarding pesticides/organic food and babies - I discovered it recently and I think it has a lot of really good and interesting information. yoga

We also stopped at this ridiculous new home & garden type store - Terrain.  Turns out, it is what dreams are made of.  At least my dreams anyway. The inside was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Tons of specimen plants, succulents, crazy awesome furniture, re-purposed barn wood everything...just wow. Definitely check it out if you are into that sort of thing. terrain

We also stopped and took a few photos together. photogroup

And, if you didn't have enough Sophie for today - check out this video :). We are pretty slow to work on our own personal family photos and home videos (you guys come first!). Tim put this video together of a day trip that we took the day after a wedding last year (or over a year ago!) and I love it. I love what we do so much - photos are just too important not to have them - watching this, I can't believe how fast the time goes. Sophie was not even one yet!!
