Monday Updates

[note, I wrote this earlier today and just got finished uploading the video for posting!]

Good morning!  Everyone holding up ok from all that vacationing last week?  I know it was you posting photos of drinks on the beach, sunsets, waves, etc.  I'm not going to point anyone out, but I saw those FB updates :).  Back to work today!  Yesterday almost felt like a hint of fall and I'm super excited!

So, what's up today?  I've been shooting a lot of engagements, which I love.  Here is a quick sneak peek of Alyssa & Rich's pics (mentioned them last week in Monday Updates).  I love this shot - it just feels like summer.  More to come later Alyssa!). IMG_9608_smalllogo

Today is also the 2nd wedding anniversary of one of my most favorite couples, Emily and Simon!!!  Congratulations guys!  Tim and I have become great friends with them since we shot their wedding two years ago, and last year (for their 1st anniversary), Tim made them this slideshow as a small anniversary gift.  I thought I would post it today...hope you guys are celebrating!  Wish you lived closer :(.

In other news...I started going to Zumba last week! Do any of you guys go? Don't laugh!  I have been meaning to get my butt to the gym more than once a month, but between everything and Sophster, its really difficult to find a time that I have enough energy to drag myself over there. But, at Jessica & Brian's wedding last month, Jess danced to a Zumba song and it looked so fun! So, I dragged myself and it is pretty fun and a great workout. Hopefully I can keep it going...in the meantime, here is a fun photo of Jess working it at her wedding, haha. (you didn't think I would be posting a pic of me zumba-ing, right? I think I look absolutely insane). IMG_1963

I announced on FB last week that I was thinking of holding a day of 'mini-sessions' for fall - I've had a lot of inquiries regarding family, couple, dogs, etc for fall photos (for holiday cards or just a few updated photos), so I thought maybe a day of mini-sessions would suit a lot of needs.  These sessions would only be 30 minutes long and you would have to sign up and get a timeslot at a certain location (I'm thinking a local park). The amount of time and photos delivered will be much different than my normal portrait sessions, so if you are interested, drop me a line and we can figure out what is right for you.  I'm going to formally announce this on the blog asap with all the necessary details - just wanted to give you guys a heads up!

If you want to laugh, here is a pic of what Tim got Sophie in the toy store yesterday.  She is a bit under the weather and usually screams her head off at the doctor - we took her the other day and she was excellent.  Tim was really proud of her for being so tough, so he took her to the toy store to get a little present.  So, she requested a pirate toy? Yeah, we didn't even know she knew what a pirate was, but she proceeded to tell us about buried treasure, rrrrr, and ships.  Definitely not too girly!  She has such a funny and great personality, she loves to be outside, loves sports and bugs and rocks.  Just love it.  But, leave it to dad to get a giant pirate toy SET.  He said the small Pirates of the Caribbean toy was lame.

And, alas, we have come to the end of today's post.  But, don't despair!  Further afternoon reading :)
  • I guess they thought it was good if babies drank soda? Excuse me, I meant chug soda :)
  • Anyone a mom like me?  Here are new blogs I'm adding to my google reader.
  • Do you guys roll your clothes?  I just started doing that in our drawers and it.really.works!!!
  • This article about Target has been making the rounds, but just in case you didn't see it....I know, at least for me, Target is like a money pit.  So, maybe this would help?
  • Just disgusting.  I warned you.
  • And, this is me.  Exactly.

Engagement: Megan + Eric | Sleeping Giant State Park, Hamden, CT

Megan and Eric are definitely winning the prize for best engagement shoot location that I didn't know about! Sleeping Giant is g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s - seriously beautiful. As I drove in, I felt like I was driving into the forests of Washington State and Oregon, not Connecticut! I was so happy to meet Megan and Eric for the first time - lots of times I talk to clients on the phone, but don't meet them in person for awhile - its always fun to put names/writing/details to a face. That is why engagment sessions are so awesome. Well, that plus the fact that Megan brought me some tomato plants - how nice is she?? I got some gardening advice too (she is a farmer!) - so cool. I'm so psyched already for their upcoming wedding at the Gelston House! Happy Friday everyone!!

Engagement: Shelly + Nick | Hubbard Park, Meriden, CT

So, normally, if its raining - we try to reschedule...but, on this day, there was about a 30% chance and we decided to go for it! And, this is where I'm supposed to say that it cleared right up, but...it rained on us :).  I wish we had a photo of us hiding under trees waiting for the rain to subside - it was an on and off type thing, so picture Shelly and Nick running back and forth between black clouds - haha.  We had a great time exploring the park regardless and I love their photos!  The rain gave the day beautiful light and the sun even peeked through at the end.  I'm hoping that since we had rain on the engagement day, we are all clear for the wedding day - bring on the sun!!  See you soon guys!

Monday Updates!

What's up everybody?  Good weekend?  Average weekend?  Hopefully better than average :).  This past week was my crazy week of engagement sessions!  I had another scheduled for today as well, but it got rained out.

The other day I met up with Nadia and Tom down in the city....really early.  Well, pretty early.  We toughed it out :) and had the best light and minimal crowds - score!  Aren't they so cute? IMG_1642

I got there a bit early and shot some instagram photos that I love -- so neat to see Meatpacking with no people! photototal (the one with the people was taken out my car window on my way home, while I was turning...probably not the safest idea).

Remember last week when I was asking for some gardening tips? Well, I didn't realize that Megan is super knowledgeable in this area (she runs a farm!!), so she helped me out while I was shooting their session..and she gave me some awesome tomato plants (heirlooms, don't be jealous people) too! Love this photo of them. IMG_0032

This photo was from another session that I shot at West Point.  It's fun for me to find new spots to shoot within places I've been many times before. Lots of fun getting new ideas. These guys are graduating and getting married in the same week!! Weliver0083

We ate on our deck for the first time this summer this weekend - some friends came over and it was so nice to be outside! I made these for dessert and they were ridiculously easy and so good. cookies (if you are going to make these, I made a few changes - swapped 1/4 cup butter for an egg, and added fresh blackberries to the top of the jam before adding the crumbs).

Tonight I'm making this broccoli soup - the name doesn't sound super appetizing or exciting, and its from a crazy cleanse diet, but is really good for you and we like it! I add a bit of cheese to it to pump it up a tiny bit, but otherwise, its great. The salad dressing recipe is awesome too.

Ok, that's all for now! Oh, except this new favorite photo of sophie and I that I took with my iphone :) photosmall

Have a great week!

Engagement: Courtney + Robert | Croton Point Park, NY

You can just see the love in these photos :).  These make me so happy on this gray morning.

I met with Courtney and Rob a few weeks ago and it was a pleasure to walk and talk and play with their super cute pup.  This time of year is so gorgeous - nice and sunny with perfect golden light, but not too hot or cold.  Awesome weather for exploring a new park (they introduced me to Croton Point Park - nice spot!), definitely have to take Sophie there.  Their wedding is under a month away and I know its going to be a great day!  Check out some of my many (many) favorites...

Engagement: Liz + Fred | Waterfront + North End, Boston, MA

Well, considering the winter we have had, I think we picked the coldest weekend so far to shoot this session! This was my first session of the year and I was happy to be in Boston to kick it off - I love Boston! What's not to love - its where Tim and I met (well, sort of, we actually met here, but went to college in Boston), the city is gorgeous in any season, I can stop and get a green tea cupcake at SWEET...and add to that, Liz and Fred wanting to shoot in the North End = perfect weekend. Liz and Fred are awesome - I was psyched to meet them for the first time, and we had plenty of time to chat while we froze walking around :) - they got engaged in the North End last winter, so we shot all around there and along the waterfront area. I have a lot of favorites, so let's get to it! Enjoy guys - can't wait for the wedding early this summer!
